Something's wrong

I don't feel like myself lately. I'm tired all of the time, can't seem to get myself going. However, when I try to sleep, I rarely get more than an hour without waking up. I'm extremely irritable and my temper is on its shortest leash ever. My body aches, and I can't get my mind to focus. The random "mystery" bruises are my biggest worry. They're getting worse and more frequent.

I'm afraid I'm going to have to start taking sleeping pills just to get some rest. I know it sounds like depression, but it isn't. I'm not even stressed any more. My life is actually panning out pretty well at the moment. Sure, I have some papers to write, but that's really not a reason to stress out.

I just don't get it. My guess is anemia. It makes sense. Unfortunately, I'm going to have to head to student health services to find out and I'm placing my bets that they send me to the counselors. I may just take my sleeping pills and some iron pills and see if that doesn't help. It really bugs me to feel this way. Argh. and blah.

It's possible to have depression and not feel depressed. Instead you just might not feel right.

I hope you'll go in. Is there any way you could see a family doctor?

I'm thinking of you.

True, but I just don't feel depressed. I know it sounds silly since, well, you can be depressed without feeling it, but I'm just not feeling it. hehe.

Nope, family doc is 1.5 hours away, and I have finals coming up too soon. Besides, I don't really like the family doctor that much... he doesn't listen as well as one of the APN's in our clinic. It will cost me a little extra to get blood tests run, but with gas as expensive as it is, I might actually save money.

I'm thinking of you.

Thanks. I bet I'm all right. The more I think of it, the more anemia sounds like the problem.

I hope everything's okay. Maybe it is just something simple like needing iron. Definately go to the doctor and get checked out though. Not sleeping makes everything else out of whack. It's no wonder you're irritable if you can only sleep for an hour at a time. hope you feel better soon.

I feel so sorry for my friends. I have to bite my tongue to keep from biting off their heads. And they aren't even doing anything. Poor kids.

If I could just get some sleep, I'd probably feel a lot better. Looks like I'll be cozying up with some Tylenol PM tonight. Hopefully, that will make me feel better for tomorrow.

If it's anemia just wolf down some nice red meat. Nothing's better for the blood than a nice juicey steak.

Also, if you're ever sick, don't take any iron...it encourages bacterial growth and will make it worse.

Hope you get whatever it is figured out...even if you can't sleep, just laying around and taking it easy might help anyway.

For the first part -- good idea. I got paid today, and a trip to Coltons could be just the thing I need...

For the second part -- really? I didn't know that! They should put that on an episode of House. "Woman has rapid bacterial growth. They find out she's on the iron pills section of her birth control pills. Mystery solved." Thanks for the info.

I really do not have much to spare at the moment, but here is some good energy on the way.

Thanks MM. I feel better already.

I also have a friend on the way with a medium rare stake. Then, I'll do a little homework, takes some tylenol pm, and I should feel right as rain by tomorrow.

Thanks for your thoughts guys. I appreciate it.

Hope you're feeling better. The last time I felt the way you did was because of a lack of iron. Hopefully that's all it is for you too. Just don't delay in getting a check up!

I would have guessed stress - you have had a lot lately.  But I do hope you find out and get some rest soon.

I feel much better this morning. I decided to take my tylenol pm last night, and got 9 hours of sleep. No nightmares, no waking up, nothing like that. Just good ole solid sleep. True, I had some pretty strange and vivid dreams (Val Kilmer was there at one point) but nothing that woke me up.

After my steak last night, I realized that I had been craving some red meat, which leads me to further believe it was plain old anemia. I'm still going for the blood tests, because it could be my thyroid messing up again.

However, wanted to say thanks to everyone, and let you know I already feel better. I just hope the APN doesn't see these bruises. She'll think I'm getting beaten up! I'd have to explain my "No, I don't recognize most of them, but I am the Queen of the Klutz People. Apparently, I cross my toes for luck too often."

He may be a dream to you, but he is a nightmare to me!

That was actually my first guess when you mentioned your problems.  I get totally whacked out when my thyroid dose is wrong, and I also end up with insomnia.  I also ens up with bruises because, well, when I'm off, so is my coordination and I end up running into things without even realizing it.

A best bet would be to go get you iron and thyroid levels checked as well as glucose, just to make sure.

I hadn't thought about glucose... I may add it to the battery of tests. I've had thyroid problems in the past, so that's a pretty good bet.
