Issues with WB 5.5

I have having issues with WB 5.5. For some reason I can apply skins just fine, however once I reboot my system it causes the explorer shell to keep restarting itself. What I mean by this is the start menu, all icons, etc just vanish for about 5-10 seconds along with the startmenu or right click menus if you happen to be navigating them at the time. If I restore my original xp theme and then reboot all is well again and can apply a theme until the next time I restart my computer.
system info:
Windows XP with SP2
WindowBlinds version : WindowBlinds 5 (5.5 (build 94 x86))
WindowBlinds is installed correctly on this PC
WindowBlinds appears to be activated on this PC

only thing I can think of is that I am not using whql nvidia drivers, instead using modified drivers but don't know if that has any effects on my issue
