Sesshin

With palms together,

We have concluded our Hanamatsuri Sesshin. This was our opportunity to extend our look into ourselves to discover our true nature. There is something very powerful about being in a Sangha practicing together the Buddha's Way. Quiet ruled. Much bowing to each other, palms together, gentle footsteps, careful preparations, mindful eating. It is very important that we each find our own way to do this. What? Stop. Slow our lives down. Learn to pay attention. It is important because with each breath life is being lived and if we are not awake, well then, we might as well be asleep.

At the beginning of sesshin, I offered the Sangha a koan my Teacher received from his Teacher: Show me a piece of paper with only one side.

To resolve this koan you must enter it fully and completely.

I'll leave it with you. Let it be a practice point for you.

Be well.
