Any news on Dark Avatar retail release in the UK?

Hey all, just as the thread title says: Is there any news on Dark Avatars retail release in the UK?

I for one am not in favor of downloading Dark Avatar and would rather have myself a nice boxed copy however no retail outlets seem to of even heard of Dark Avatar in the UK.

Is Dark Avatar even going to be released in Europe and does Stardock ship to the UK at all?

I think the official stand is unchanged,
No release of DA anywhere, only online,

If you want it you have to get it from Stardock;
You can get a discount if you already own DL. But the only option is online unless you pay for Gold edition.

I am also from the UK and i paid my $10 for a delivered version, expecting some sort of "proper" release,

I expected it boxed and a manual but all I got was a bubble wrap with a CD in a crappy paper wrapper, you know, the ones you get off magazines. thats all you get, sorry for the disappointment.

Ah thats a shame. So if I order Gold online will that ship with a box and manual do you think?

I'm not sure about the gold edition, I'd hope you would get a box and a manual for that order, but after my experience I would expect 2 CD's in a bag. I recommend you ask first.

I have been disappointed by it not being sold at retail in the UK, but I do understand the reason why.

I paid for the downloaded version of DA expecting to be able to download a ISO and burn it to CD, I even sent support a question regarding this.

I must have got the wrong understanding from their response as all I can do is to download and then archive the DA expansion as a SD type of image - thus needing SD to install it again.

I had hoped to have the ISO type of image.

So I have paid $10 fro the game to be shipped, still waiting for delivery, and I suppose I will be disappointed again to find it in a bubble wrap with a plian white sleeve.

Somehow it does not compare to my tin version of GC II.

We are working to get GalCiv2 Gold to retail in Europe as quickly as possible, but it is taking longer than we'd hoped. Until everything is sorted on that front, buying the download version or importing the game is really the only option for European customers.

Unfortunately, this is correct--Dark Avatar alone does not have a retail box (no such thing was ever made). If you want a retail box, you will need to get GC2Gold.

I have no problem about getting the Gold version, if I had been aware of.....

The download version not being an ISO but instead only a SD type of install

The DA version, which I'm waiting for delivery, being a plain while case and disc.

Whilst I really do enjoy the game I don't wish to buy it yet again just for a box, which I doubt would be a tin either.

The metal cases were produced by Paradox for the European limited edition of DL, as I recall. The box for a direct order of GC2:Gold (or any import) will be just a regular cardboard box as any other game has.

...ah I see - I must admit it does look VERY special having a copy of GCII in a tin

I suppose I will just cram my copy of DA, when it arrives, in the tin
