This Makes Me SO Mad!

I sometimes like to look at screenshots to get ideas about what other people are doing with OD. It REALLY makes me mad when I see something I like but the uploader hasn't included any information on what window blind, wallpaper etc. that was used. This should be MANDATORY! Oh, and LINKS would be nice too.

Yes, it can be frustrating. I too wish all skins used could be identified, it would help a great many people re-create some of the excellent desktops skinning can provide.

We have had this discussion many times Tigerlady and most will agree with you 100%. That is why people look at screen shots - to share different combinations and ' stuff'
Usually I find that if I make a comment on a SS that had no info
IE: this was a great shot but would have been a GREAT shot if you had left a bit of details about what you used. I find the next time they upload a SS they include details. Some just don't know to do it and also they might not realise after their shot has been uploaded to screen shot gallery, they can add the details after its up by going to their 'skins' page and clicking on the 'edit' next to that skin. You just fill out the description field and leave the 2 upload preview and jpeg areas blank...then click update and its done automatically without going through moderation again.

^You're a Journeyman anyway, I thought your stuff didn't have to go through moderation?

Anything that gets "updated" in the traditional sense has to go through moderation, no matter what your level. This ensures that people aren't just hitting update to bump their skins back up to the front. That is a handy piece of info Fairyy~. Thanks.

Well if you were lucky enough to be promoted to Journeyman in the first place, the powers that be must obviously trust them enough not to abuse the privileges that come with it.

Tigerlady.....the only thing i will say is that some of our members here dont speak english very well and it is difficult for them to include the information

Yes, even journeymen have to wait if they make changes to a skin - this is strictly to edit the details. I didn't know this existed until someone else showed me..so I'm not sure if this is a new feature added to new site or if it was always this way...I always re-uploaded everything and waited for it to go through mod queue again ( usually just to fix typos or botched links ) it seemed a waste to have a moderator be bothered with moderating all over again.

Not sure if there is any place this is documented. The person that showed me had said they thought this option was always there ... either way its good to pass this on.

Any changes to files, no matter the user level, need to go through moderation. Changes to text only are fine. It has always been this way

"A Journeymen's skin is automatically made available upon uploading. It does not have to go through moderation first. As a result, only the most trusted users will become Journeymen because of this power." - About page

Ok so it isn't moderated the first time around, but it is for an update/edit? Didn't mean to hijack the thread or anything, but this conflicting info is confusing. @_@

As for the original topic, I agree. I always give the info, sometimes I even open up notepad and put the info in the screenshot itself. But like the others have said (here and elsewhere), it would be hard to enforce (besides rejecting all the screenshots that don't give the info and tell the author to include it to pass moderation).

To prevent the 'move something 1 pixel to the left then re-uploading to the 'just in' position for the 3rd time in a week scenario.

Fuzzy:Changes to text only are fine. It has always been this way

Fuzzy - is this noted anywhere that you know of ? So many do not know about this option at all.
