again my ignorance is quite evident, what does it mean to "bump!" during a discussion, I've seen it several times but didn't want to ask but I've seen it even more recently and I just have to know what it means. Is it a bad thing?

Sometimes it's unneeded. It means Bring Up My Post. Keeps it current like it is of interest which, when it is of interest, makes Bump useful to ensure people will be more likely to notice it. I hope that answers your question unclerob.

It means replying to a thread that has been sitting for awhile and has basically gotten burried to the bottom of the days topics...You "Bump" it to bring it forward again so that someone "relevant" that may not have had the chance to view it will see it and perhaps provide some "Answers/solutions" to the "Discussion/problem" at hand..

Yes, it was really a reminder to have patience....there is no real benefit in bumping a thread quite so often.....anything more than once a day is probably a waste of effort, really.  If a topic appeals it will be noticed sooner or later...
