I made my first bootskin for fun...just to check the prog out...it was fun.Then I saw my stat...ranked about 1900 overall   

Couldnt have a rank in any category less than the top 100 could I?  So I made another...and another til I just couldnt stop myself.I'm sitting at rank 105 now,1 more should do it.  

Next,conquer the logon field...rank 366...for now...buhwhahhahahhahha!

I agree with you for the 30 bootskins per day it's crazy and more when you think they get fews downloads and if the author upload just one per week or month in place of 10 per days he'll get certainly more download. (Skinned Alive have got this mater with his astro suite and he removed all not?)
Perso i like more comments to let me know i have make a mistake(to improve my work) or to let me know that the skin is good than enormous download count and no comment. Example: Vista Ultimate Boot

This is why download counts and the top 'authors' list are useless shite. You can 'make' and upload a thousand bootskins in the time it takes to make a good WB skin or iconpackage. Where's the justice? There is none.

Skin for fun and nothing else. It's the only way to go

I hear what you're saying Night Train and I know you weren't directing your "wiseassness" at me specifically but thanks for saying so anyways. I'm a smarta$$ by nature and I usually leap before I look which is why I added my 2 cents (cdn) about ripping a skin to get better downloads but I should definitely think 3 times (twice even) before letting loose with all the details as I did in my above rants which were thankfully "edited" by zubaz.

Skin for fun is the best attitude, if anything it promotes the best creativity.
Otherwise skinning just for downloads (it is nice to be popular, just wished I could get on my wife's top 10 list   ) becomes more of a job than a hobby and then gets old real quick.

Zubaz, I actually really do like that wallpaper (give yourself some credit, it is good), you should upload it to the site (I know it's at the guichamps website but you should upload it to the wallpaper section on this site) and maybe do a hue shift and make a wallpaper skin pack out of it (orange, blue, red, green, b/w, etc.). That software is very interesting - I'm wondering if I could use it to create some gui elements in my wb's - we'll find out soon enough   

I may even ask your permission to use it in a logon in the future

One thing for sure, you guys sure are a friendly bunch, I'm used to other website forums where you can literally be "cyber lynched" for saying something wrong or stepping out of line.

I, on the other hand, simply make a screen shot of the stats page, photoshop in the #s that make me happy and set the entire finished product as my wallpaper...now, with .dream I can even have winky walk out and present me with the award....

The aim is for Wincustomize.com's skinning forums to be 'friendly'.  Gone are the days of wise-arse ganging up on people who may be mildly out of step with some 'in-crowd' or other....

You hit the nail on the head, good skins are usually rec'd well (unless they get buried in a torrent of other skins in the same section if alot of other work gets uploaded during the same time and then it's just lost in space)

step 1: I'll recolor my widgets and upload them.
step 2: I'll do this every week and upload them as updates for previous versions.
step 3: I'll make them semi transparent, rename to Vista and then look on the step1 and step2.
