Uninstall problem

A friend let me install like an ultimate pack that had everything on it, such as WindowsBlinds, DesktopX, IconPackager, ObjectDock, Bootskin, Logontheme, ThemeManager, etc, etc, etc. The list goes on and on. I KNOW this stuff was probably downloaded somewhere with cracks.

Anyway, its all buggy and some of it doesent work and went I went to uninstall it all, it wouldn't uninstall. The INSTALL.LOG files were all missing and all that mumbo jumbo.

So I downloaded the zapper. Didn't do what it was promised. I still have all kinds of files in my programs folders that are still associated with all those programs, especially WindowsBlinds.

If I just delete the stuff in the program folder, then I will probably STILL have unnecessary junk of the programs still floating around on my computer, such as registry files or something.

Is there anyway to get all this CRAP off my computer? Is there a list of all the files and registry files it installs so I can delete them one by one at least?

I tried reinstalling them and uninstalling them too, along with rebooting my computer after each reinstall and uninstall and I even tried it WITHOUT rebooting. However, I am still stuck with junk.

Thanks for reading,

Where did you get teh "Ultimate pack" from?  It sounds liek it may have installed something extra.

Have you asked your "friend" for help?

Probably won't get a lot of help here.

make your friend buy you a new computer

if that's a no go... a simple reformat will fix you up

System Restore.

I'm sure you're well aware there's a lesson in this...

A system restore all the way back to like December of 2006? Ouch. I will just dig through my computer.

:

I would suggest deleting everything out of C:\Program Files\Stardock and C:\Program Files\Common Files\Stardock. For what can't be deleted (dlls), just rename the files and restart your computer. Once you've restarted, nothing should be running at startup unless there were some other third party goodies included.

As for any registry entries (though once the files are removed, these will be dormant):

hklm\software\stardock
hkcu\software\stardock
hklm\software\microsoft\windows nt\currentversion\winlogon\notify\mcpclient
hklm\software\microsoft\windows nt\currentversion\winlogon\notify\wbsrv

hkcu\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\run
hklm\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\run

I'd suggest avoiding cracked versions of any software. The cost may be free, but the price still weighs heavy.

Object Desktop includes over 20 pieces of software that you can use forever and costs only $50. As an Object Desktop customer, you'll have all the skinning tools you could ever need
