Vista 64 Bit

Bought Windowblinds after looking at the ad saying that it was Vista compatible. Nowhere on the system requirements page did it say the it was not Vista 64 bit compatible. I bought it and it does not run! I understand I have a one year for upgrading but until a version for Vista 64 bit is released it is useless to me. I hope I can get the upgrade time increased after I do get the 64 bit version. There is a WB 6.0 Beta out, can I get a copy of that if it is Vista 64 bit compatible?

You're right it doesn't.

It should have.

It was mentioned on the article on the right of that page:

Stardock Corporation Launches a Vista-Ready WindowBlinds 5.5.

WindowBlinds 5.5
Requires: Windows XP, 2003, or 32-bit Windows Vista (64-bit support coming shortly)

Right above the 1st screen shot.

This is getting to be a pain. Updates come fairly frequently, and still not even beta x64 support. It doesn't seem to be a priority for Stardock. I think it should be.

All x64 editions of Windows Vista require kernel mode modules or drivers to be signed (since Beta 2). See(link="http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/winlogo/drvsign/drvsign.mspx"]WWW Link[/link]. This is a security enhancement which is not enforced in Vista x86 (I think). The consequence of this is that the developers of any application (such as Windows Blinds) which requires kernel mode modules or drivers has to pay Microsoft (or their appointed agent) to inspect and certify the module or drivers. This is a time consuming process. So even if Stardock had a beta of Windows Blinds for Vista x64 they could not release it until it was "ready" and had gone to Microsoft for testing.
