Upgrade to 5.5 - Have to Pay For it?

CNET.com has an upgrade to 5.5 available but it only gives you a 60 day trial. Do we have to pay again to get the upgrade?

I believe only the trial is available anywhere online except at the Stardock Store (that's the only place I found it to purchase)

That would depend on what you're trying to upgrade from.

Have you gone here and entered your email?
Have you checked via SDC?

When I bought WindowBlinds as a standalone, I got a Windowblinds 5.x version. I think (someone will have to correct me if I'm wrong about this) that when you purchase a single OD component, you get a year of free updates to that component. Try downloading the update through Stardock Central. Hope this helps.

The 5.5 update is nowhere on their site. I tried the links that all of you provided. You can upgrade from 4.0 to 5.0 but not from 5.0 to 5.5. I tried to buy WindowBlinds (just to see if 5.5 would come up) and the product they offer is 5.0.

This maybe because Object Desktop subscribers get to access it first....before others.... It will become available soon to other users....someone with more info can post that info here.

If you have purchased WB 5 standalone then you can update to 5.5 by going to https://www.stardock.com/support/ and entering your e-mail address you used when you purchased the product.  This will mail you the latest links to the products you purchased.

I must also point out that OD comes with 1 year of updates.  If you buy a standalone product you get all the same major version updates which is different from 1 years worth of updates.  So if you purchased WB 5.0 then you would have had 5.0, 5.01, 5.1 and 5.5.

Thanks Neil for clarifying that...I was not aware of the differences

What I find misleading is that the 5.5 trial version BUY NOW link only allows you to buy 5.0. I pruchased 5.0 a number of months ago, yet when I enter my serial number, I get no option to upgrade to 5.5. The only upgrade is from 4.0 to 5.0. Stardock gives CNET the ability to offer 5.5, yet when you want to buy it, it is not available? Anyone out there have 5.5 that they upgraded to???

THANK YOU ZUBAZ!!!

Stardock Central is what I was missing. No one, ever told me download Stardock Central. I received 5 replies from Stardock and not one of them included any suggestion to install Stardock Central. Once I downloaded that, I received the upgrade. Thank you again!
