Anyone else have their Stardock.net ID "fixed" in middle of Meta game?

A while ago, I got a seemingly innocuous announcement that Stardock were updating their user name system to eliminate non-alphanumeric characters. I used to have periods in my name here.

In fact, those periods were present when I started the huge-map Metaverse game that I *finally* finished last night. When the posting dialog popped up, my user name was locked in and the periods were still present, so my password did not match.

I've replied to the name-change message from support, but I thought I'd see if anyone out here can confirm my guess that the ludicrous amount of time I put into that game is lost to the Metaverse.

I also thought I should warn anyone else who might have had their username updated.

I couldn't say myself, but support should be able to give you an answer (just make sure your reply started a ticket).

Thanks, Kryo. This is one of those occasions where I feel quite sheepish about how often I tell people to be patient...

I had the same thing happen.
I was able to fix it and enter my score to the metaverse.
I re-entered my OLD DA serial number by using Stardock Central.
(you can't enter the old serial number through DA because the old number is too small.)
I then started the game normally. I reloaded my saved game.
When I went post to the Metaverse I was sucessful.

Short answer, the Metaverse is looking for the serial number used when you started the game.

Once I posted my score I quit the game and then re-entered my new serial number.
So I made the Metaverse happy, then I made Stardock happy.

Thanks for the reply Skippio.

Either I'm brainfarting badly about which is SN I used to start the game or the workaround is not working for me. I unhappily believe the former is a more likely scenario, but am hoping that the support folks can straighten me out. As the line goes, "Patience, Grasshopper..."

Skippio, thanks for the interesting email, but as far as I can tell the SN changes are not directly connected to the user name changes. I tried all manner of variations that seemed to keep SDC happy (always offering me the latest DA update), but I have had no luck getting the Metaverse to accept my game after processing the pre-win turn.

I'm pretty sure there are *very* few folks in my situation (G.W. versus GW), so I'm goint to take this as a sign that I really needed to take a solid break from GalCiv clicking and await a response from [email protected].

It was worth a shot, I know what I mentioned fixed the problem for me.
Sorry it didn't work out better for you.

I'm a real Stardock loyalist and all, but I have to ask: Is 10 days too long to wait for a clear response to a support request?

My ticket ID is IPK-153539. I opened it on 3/12 and received a reply on 3/14 that suggested I hadn't worded my problem clearly enough when I submitted the request. So I replied with an attempt to clarify.

I've heard nothing since the 3/14 message and I've sent two more messages (with ticket # in subject) on 3/16 and 3/20 asking for a status or something, even if it is "Sorry, no way to help here."

Forgot to try the magic word "Kryo?"

and I've sent two more messages

Each action made on a ticket (from your end or ours) sends it down to the bottom of the queue. So "bumping" it actually has the opposite effect of what's intended.

I've asked support to look at your ticket today, since you posted the ID.

Gosh, that seems a very important point that should be in the initial ticket email!

Thanks.

Indeed it is. I asked one of the support guys to add it to it, so people stop trying to bump their tickets and inadvertantly prevent themselves from getting a timely response.
