Page freezes..

Page freezes..

Maybe its just me , and maybe its been addressed already but...

..on WC and WC only ..in IE6...whenever i go to a new page its like IE freezes for a few secs before I can scroll...almost seems like a ram issue or something, my fan runs faster and hear my comp working harder, just for a sec or two.

I have a 3.4 Dual Core so I dont think my processor should be slowing down just browsing the forums.

Any Ideas?

Yeah I'm getting tired of it.

Happens to me too, I try to get to the newest post in a thread and I have to wait while everything is loading before I can just manually go to the bottom myself.

I have noticed that the more "quotes" there are in a thread the worse the freeze gets. Coincidence, maybe. Just throwing it out there.

For those of you having issues with this, please post one url that you can consistantly see this page 'freeze' along with the browser and version of browser you are using.

IE 6, just about every page on forums. This one even.

FYI, My CPU spikes to over 50% while its doing it. (3.4 Dual Core) Brainiac checked his CPU last night, (slower PC) Spiked to 100% CPU usage while freeze up happens.

I can watch my cpu meter spike...as soon as it backs off I can navigate again.

8 seconds seems to be about average.

Can you see what is loading on the status bar (if anything) during teh spike?

IRBraniac, please try and consolidate your replies into one larger one. No need to post 5 replies when you can pack all that into one.

We're investigating the issue. Please withhold the 'me too' replies until I can reply again with more information. Thanks much.

Not when the site refuses to allow you to edit.

And it was 3 replies in a row,not 5.  (edit  )

Close to 100% of forum threads causes a pause. Including this one.

100% of skin details pages goes to 404 page after it completely loads.
Yes, I said AFTER it completely loads. I usually hit stop loading button before it completely loads.

It has to be one of the more annoying 'features' of the forums.....

lets hope its not a "feature" lol..

Im on Vista now btw and without trying to be repetitive.. still at 50% CPU.

firefox doesn't seem to have the problem, but in IE7 if i try and load a WC link in a new tab i get an error, but it never freezes for me when loading any WC pages in the same window, so i dunno what it could be. Now i only use IE7 to go to the microsoft update site everything else i use firefox (shameless plug)

People having issues should really try some script-blocking plugins.

If it will work, im all for that, not sure what it is though, can you give an example?

also.. should we really have to just to browse a forum efficiently?

Talk about page 'freezes'.....just saw a wooly mammoth, a sabre tooth tiger walk by while this page was loading.....and in the background there was a squirrel trying to pull an acorn out of the ice.

Any chance something like that could be used to determine what script is causing the freezing issues?

Sounds like a reasonable way to nail down the issue Andrew.

The only script here that I have AdBlocked is google analytics. I have no page freezes.

Isn't he talking about the extension no script? for FF for example...Which I use...I have blocked google-analytics and no page freezes here. Ialos use FasterFox which gives me the exact time it takes a page to load...average time 4.93 seconds. This is not the case when loading aninmation loaded pages ect but that is expected but still page does not freeze. It takes an average usually 20.470 secs to load a personal profile ....

Edit...lol Purrball...too slow
