Page freezes..

Maybe its just me , and maybe its been addressed already but...

..on WC and WC only ..in IE6...whenever i go to a new page its like IE freezes for a few secs before I can scroll...almost seems like a ram issue or something, my fan runs faster and hear my comp working harder, just for a sec or two.

I have a 3.4 Dual Core so I dont think my processor should be slowing down just browsing the forums.

Any Ideas?

I have been getting same problem.

It's only this site ...not happening anywhere else. [IE7]

I have the prob as well [as mentioned in another thread]

SO I wonder if anyone in the know is gonna post about it?

This happened once before when there was a problem loading the statcounters . . dunno if it's the same thing, but it's a pain.

Im assuming that means it will stay like this for non subscribers anyway?

Yes, analytics is used be the site to track taffic patterns and help us improve it.

Well, question is, if subscribed would one still experience the slowdown.. its pretty significant imo.

It's an IE6 issue, so there's really nothing we can do. It seems to effect each of our sites differently. I use IE6 primarily at work, and I notice it too. Sometimes its longer than other times. Sometimes I dont even notice the freeze up. It has nothing to do with whether or not youre a subscriber

Would updating to .NET2.0 then to .NET3.0 help *shrugs*

As for comp making noise and fans blazing away for a short time that'll be down to cpu getting hot,it usually kicks in at a predetermined temp

Ok, when any program spikes ur ram.. typically the fans run a little harder..

When this happens, my fans run harder.. JUST for the 1-2 secs the page freezes... I cant scroll, i cant Page-back..nothing.. then.. fine.

Its not because my cpu is running hot, It happens with nothing running but IE, even when my pc is first booted.. and i have 2 G of ram.. and only on WC. Basically IE locks up.

Apparently as explained before its something to do with the way the site runs.. but honestly.. to me.. its a rather significant problem seeing that it doesnt hapen on any other forums or pages...that im aware of.

Hopefully theres some way of getting it a little more efficient.

You wouldn't have this issue if you used Firefox.

Umm.. firefox doesnt skin correctly, Im not going to spend hours and hours making toolbar iconsets that I cant even use.. and I reFUSE to use any browser that hardcodes its text black rendering most dark skins un-usable.

and.. i DO have the issue in Firefox as do several others ive spoken to about it. Might be a TAD quicker but still hangs on page change.

It's not just IE6. I use IE7 and it still happens.

Feel free to continue speculating guys, but you can always go back and reference Reply #12. The issue has been noted and explained

Andrew , how can reply 12 be valid if the problem is happening with IE7?

Sorry, but you do.....been having WC page load issues in FF latest version for a few days now.

sometimes its as much as 10 seconds...nothing works during the freeze.

sometimes its as much as 10 seconds..

That's nothing....had to step away from my puter earlier, and when I came back the page still hadn't loaded 747 seconds later.

Thought that number was odd, given 747's fly along at a cracking pace.

Not to worry. tho...I'm sure the bug crackers at Stardock 'll sort it.

Apparently not, seems that its being brushed off by referreing to post 12.

Andrew, as you can see its happening in all browsers, I personally tried it in FF , IE7 and IE6..same in all.

Not to mention, Millions of people still use IE6 for a variety of reasons including myself.

Please look into it further as time permits.
