This is something I have noticed on the internet, especially on blogs or in forums all over the internet. Someone will post a multiple paragraph diatribe that could just have easily been expressed in one or two sentences. Why?
Do these people actually think that they appear more intelligent if they type out a few hundred words? Maybe it's just a way to create a word smoke screen to hide the fact that their ideas are actually pretty simplistic or poorly thought out? More words does not equal more thought.
More words also does not mean more correct. Sometimes I think that some of these people actually believe that if they pound out some long string of words they will somehow be seen as more correct. Sorry folks, it doesn't work that way. A million lines of bullshit is still just a lot of bullshit.
I've always believed that condensing a thought or concept down into just a few words or sentences is not only an art but a sign of intelligence. If you can't state your point in one or two sentences, you don't really have a point. That's why it's called a point; sharp and abrupt. Yes, you can spend some words backing up a point, but if the point itself won't fit into a couple of sentences you need to rethink it.
What's my point?
