Collector's Ed. Vs. Gold Ed.

52 miles of travel (one way), 17 retailers, and only 6 of them that had Dark Avatar.
Not only that, all 6 had ONLY the GOLD EDITION. Thing is, I already own the Dread Lords Collector's Edition. Loss of patience led me to just go ahead and buy Gold Edition. That said, it brought up several questions for me...

1) Do I have to wipe out my Collector's Ed. install, or will Gold Ed. detect it, and simply update it with Dark Avatar?

2) Am I gonna lose the ability to use the bonus ship design items, which came with the Collector's Edition (assuming I have to reinstall using Gold Edition)?

3) Assuming I MUST reinstall using Gold Ed., will my ship designs (those using collector's ed. materials in them) become "corrupted" or by any means inaccessbile/unusable?

Any help anyone can provide would be greatly appreaciated in these matters.

1) DA will find your current installation and update it. You can even revert to Dread Lords by clicking the 'Switch Chapter' button on the DA frontend.

2) CE jewelry is now standard, it's all there.

3) There will be a new GC2DarkAvatar folder under \Documents and Settings\Username\My Documents\My Games. Copy your old ship designs from My Games\GalCiv2\ships and put them in My Games\GC2DarkAvatar\ships. The few that I transfered work fine.

Did you know you can get a $10 rebate by being a previous owner? There should be a card in the box.

This is correct. It would be difficult for a small company such as we are to get two different boxes on shelves at the same time (DA and GC2), so there is only the Gold Edition, which has both and a $10 rebate for existing GC2 owners.
