Window resizing-wierd toolbar remnants

Window resizing-wierd toolbar remnants

Why does this happen?

I only see this in Explorer and IE windows.(all my skins that have any detail at the right side of the toolbar)

Firefox does not do this.Of course it disappears if you rollup or move another window over it.

All versions of wb have done this on all my pc's.

12 days and not a single reply from anyone from Stardock...seems they only care about noob customers.Skinners are on their own.

Added a glyph image for grins and the problem is even worse.

I.R.  If you think it's a bug (and not something that a fellow skinner can address) I suggest you email support and get it into the bug system.

Should I package all my bugs into one email?(with pics, picture is worth 1000 words and I aint typing that many, hehe)

These bug threads are more for Stardock peeps than fellow skinners...fellow skinners will rarely have answers for these types of issues...I post them so that skinners will SEE if its something they are having issues with and whether anything is being done about it.(or even gets acknowledged)

I see SD people here in the forums...but mostly all they respond to are noob users.

Help the skinners and you help the users.

I have the same problem as you, ANY toolbar with pixels different from the background base color on the right edge will stretch along the toolbar when any explorer or IE window is being resized.

This is a serious bug and really needs to be addressed as it really inhibits creativity within the toolbar design.

Does not happen in Firefox.

As a temporary workaround...you can do 2 things...0 margin on the right with tile,or in display properties...turn off show window contents while dragging.

Both kinda suck.

This is due to a problem in Explorer / IE and how they try to avoid excessive repaints on the toolbar when resizing.

If you look very carefully you will see similar issues with Windows XP style.  Resize the window small and move another window over it to ensure it has fully repainted.  Then expand it really wide.  Now look near the horizontal lines and you will see it has not repainted them correctly.

If you have the address bar on the right then it is even more obvious.  Move another window up over the bottom half of the toolbar and then away again and you should see a visible difference between the repainted area and the non repainted area.

It is less obvious with Windows XP style simply because the toolbar background graphic colours are all very similar.

I thought WB was handling the repainting?

The control / app decides what needs repainting in this case.

WB is capable of sending a repaint command...something along the lines of the way WB does the Optimize resizing performance with Cleartype maybe :NOTSURE: ?

Resize...repaint.
