dissapointed with weapons

The great weapon effects you had for the beta are gone! Now it's just back to boring old beams. What happened to the disruptor bolts? What happened to the pulse weapons? Can you guys at least put them on the library download section so those of us who want them can use them? Talk about a bummer. Not that I don't like the game but this was a big let down.

None of them have been changed that I can see. All the Gfx/Weapons files are exactly as they were in the last public beta.

I'm talking about the lasers have different gfx, the plasma, the disruptors, the phasers are a bummer now. They used to be bolts. The special weapon you get for being evil is different. And for heaven sakes... fix the speed of the photon torpedo if you guys are not going to put better gfx in at least. I'll get to retirement b4 it hits anything.

So you craped the beta at the very end. Figures. Should have known the way stardock was giving Vista glowing recommendations that the users have finally been craped at stardock.

I know exactly what you're talking about. And like I said, those weapons that had new animations in the beta (as I can see in the GC2Types.xml I have from before the final versions), still have those same new animations. They have not been reverted to their DL animations. Feel free to examine the GC2Types.xml files between the DL, DA, and the DA beta (if you still have that one) and compare.

The following weapons have new animations:

Laser V
Phasor I-VII
Photon Torpedo III
Quantum Torpedo II
Quantum Torpedo III (different animation from II)

Those are the only ones that used new models in the beta AFAIK, and they still do. If you don't like them, feel free to mod your GC2Types.xml.

Wow uglycow... Whats gotten into you? Its pretty obvious that something has you peeved and that your looking to take it out on any possible target. SD has been doing great with regards to the public... We're a pretty happy community here so if theres something you want to share in a respectful, considerate manner, we would all be happy to oblige you!

I just remember the laser techs and the plasma techs having different animations. The disruptors used to be star trek style. And all the other stuff I listed. And all of a sudden wham! Back to original. I was wowed by them so much and now they are gone. I feel cheated basically. I don't have any mods running or even on my computer. But everyone will probably agree I don't know what I'm talking about... so feel free.

*I* made the change so that the early level weapons are intentionally "lamer".  In the beta, the early weapons were cool when they are supposed to be kind of weak. The latter weapons get increasingly cooler.

I've been playing the DA campaign, and I can absolutely understand the frustration. But that just makes getting to the next level that much more satisfying.




SPOILER ALERT:
For those who don't know, you're severely limited with weapons in the opening stages of the new campaign. Even playing on lower difficulty settings than I normally do, it's not so easy to beat an opponent who doesn't have high weapons tech. I've gotten through every level so well so far, but it hasn't always been so pretty.




So I am very happy with it so far.

Guess I'll just mod my own stuff and fix what you did then.
Just in case the developers didn't notice: Disruptors are now back to being a big fat as big as my planet beam and phasors are worse, (among all the other stuff I have already pointed out). Why even bother putting new gfx in the beta if they are going to be taken out for the release?

Obviously because stardock developers considered it an improvement. Not everyone will agree with every improvement or 'mistake', that is normal.

Hey guys, kindove a random question, but i cant get my xml file into my gc2types file. Im trying some new ship scins and cant get the xml text in the folder.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi uglycow, If you like some of the new weapons (which I made as a present for Stardock) and you want some back into the game, please look into the gfx/weapons folder. All (strange named^^) new Weapon names are the one I made, maybe there are some of the weapons you are missing in-game, keep the name in mind and change the weapon animation-link in the GC2types so you can try them all out. (Sounds are there too)

Laser 4, Phasers and some of the Torpedoes seem to be implemented into the standard Dark Avatar. How do you like the Phasor?
