Anna Nicole Smith is Dead

Anna Nicole Smith is Dead

Why is this headline news?

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,250974,00.html

Ok, for us guys, she was sweet eye candy (when she dropped the life saver).  She knew how to keep herself up, and became rich by making an old man's last year a very happy one.  But really people!  Front page?  The Photo spot?

Both Foxnews, and CNN (and I dont check out MSNBC as that is just a rag) have it in their lead spot!  Which is stupid!  She was a celeb!  Not an important person who cured something or changed something!

left or right, if you think any of the news outlets are being objective right now, you really will but a bridge in Brooklyn!

I'm sure the diaper wearing astronaut is glad it took some of the spotlight off her.

I am going to have to nickname you Pollyanna. You find the good in all things.

Like Monroe, she died young but she never could have been a Marilyn. They had things in common but MM became an icon. Sadly, Ms Smith won't. How she could have married that "coffin on wheels" eludes me.

It was probably money.  But if she made him happy, I see no problems with it.  It was his to do with as he saw fit, not his children's.

well, in the 50's, we barely had tv (black and white, broadcast only) and a much smaller percentage of households even owned 1. there were no 16 theater cineplexes and so forth...today, (and it was true in the early 90's when she made her mark) there are soooo many more choices in entertainment. anna could never expect to have the "kind" of stardom that any star of the 50's had.

how a star was viewed, promoted, exploited and everything else was just soooo different back then.

i think anna made her mark, after all, she probably is getting more coverage on her death than marylin got at any point in her career.

Well, she has been the photo spot on CNN and Fox for 2 days now, I would say that was coverage. The latest is that Zsa Zsa Gabor's husband is saying he is the father of the baby! That woman got around.

I heard a couple of people IRL talking about how they couldn't understand how anyone would find her attractive. Most people who think such never saw her before the VH1 thing, long after her turn to drugs and porn. The first time I ever saw her was when I was in college, and she was one of the generic models on the cover of a Playboy.

This is a cropped image from that cover. No nudity, fully clothed, don't have a cow. Later, sure, whatever problems she had took their toll on her appearance, and she bought insanely large boobs, etc. The fact is, though, she was lovely before her long decline.

I'm surprised more people haven't been blaming Playboy more. It would be idiotic, since most of the time when models go into a steep decline it is when they separate themselves and go counter to the ethic they have for their models (hardcore porn, etc). Still, you'd think the anti-porn crusaders would be on this.

I agree Baker, I think she was pretty.

She didn't seem malicious to me, or bitter. Attitude really does carry a lot of weight in my opinion of people.

Actually, I always did, in a plastic sort of way. To each his own. But the playboy pic I guess is where the MM comparisons are coming from.

We are aware that the Howard Stern she was seeing was not THE Howard Stern? What a pairing that would have been NOT!

One is a slime ball, and the other is not a lawyer.
