Where Did You Get That?
The guy working the register is from some place in the Middle East (he's never actually said what country, he just says the Middle East and I don't press him on it as it's none of my business).. He's a pretty nice guy and has lived in this country long enough that his English is pretty good. He pointed to my Baja jacket and asked me where I got it. I told him I have several of them and have picked them up in various truck stops around the country.
He asked how much they sell for, and guessed "$50?" I told him he can get them at just about any truck stop for about 10 bucks each. He seemed a bit surprised at the cheap price. He said that back in the Middle East people wear the same sort of thing when it's chilly and he really liked them.
We chatted about it for a minute and I told him the next time I come in off the road I'd bring him a couple of them that should fit him. He was quite happy about that and said he looked forward to having one.
I've always liked them myself. They're loose fitting, not at all bulky, and while they keep you warm they also breath so as to not roast you when you go from the chill of outside to a heated building. I always carry two or three of them in my truck all year long.
In case you aren't familiar with a Baja jacket, this is what they look like, and they come in a wide variety of colors and patterns and they are always hooded:
