I still have not figured out what people gain by ripping someones work and calling it their own.

Frankensteins...Frankensteins, I tell ya...cuttin' up parts and gluing 'em together like some mad scientist. Rally the mob, grab a pitchfork...wake up grandma and the kids!

It blows my mind. Just had some yesterday by someone else. I just don't get it.

I recognised several of her walls as others work - but I like to be sure of my facts ..I just got through sending a note to http://valentinakallias.deviantart.com/
Her work was also used as this persons newly uploaded wallpaper.

The fact that this person named the original artist in the above post on their latest wall - id say its a lack of understanding that you just can't take others work and revamp it - then upload it.

The offending walls have been pulled.

When downloading something that's been pulled it offers me a folder called 'stuff'.

You can still click on the preview and rightclick save as the full view...
that shouldn't be happening right?

I learned that in grade school,(not the upload part)...back then it was considered stealing.

I was thinking more on the lines of a language problem. When others wrote on the wall ( the one My Secret posted ) and asked if they had permission to use those images - they never replied - yet they posted the source of the images on their next upload...like that was supposed to make it ' ok'

I noticed that even though walls that have been removed from gallery, if I had made a comment on that wall - the links are still active on my WC site in my
" Recent Comments " and you can still click the link and see the removed wall.

Considering that a total of 3 rips have been *Proven I hope this person is banned, period
How many rips can you upload before you are banned?

Another question...Should the original artist be notified after it has been removed here?

Please note that you need to include written permission from all authors of any works before uploading edited or original works !~!
And will post this in the newest rip clwoods found.

We will have to keep bumping this for Zoomba to see again. I appreciate that Zoomba takes action so quickly and hopefully she will b banned....at least till a new name is registered

There has been a rash of rips this week. IMO anyone that rips work is not able to do their own and all work they do is a rip. If a person can do their own art, why would they need to rip?

Taking outright credit tells me alot about the type of person she is. I'd even give an oops once....but not over & over. On the 1 I reported did you follow the link to deviant art.....4 pages of congrats about that wall. To try to take that away from someone.

By the way clwoods do you think the original author should be told? I'd appreciate any opinion, haven't done this before.

I guess that would be up to you. I did. The one I reported was ripped from a dear friend of mine. I think it is fine either way. I am pretty new to this too. Seems there has been a rash of them lately.

If I can find their DA site I usually leave them a note and the link to WC just to be sure they didn't give permission - I really think its safe to assume all her/his walls are not original. 2 of the others I know I've seen before - but Im not going to spend all day searching for them at DA.

The fact that she doesn't have written permission and does not give credit to the original author definitely indicate that probably all of her * walls are rips but I agree spending time looking is useless.

Well - here is her 3rd Rip - I didnt need to look far - I knew someone had used this in a screen shot and left a link to the wall. It looked familar because I HAVE it ...wall was downloaded in May of 2006 from DA.

The problem is this person has a DA site where they are uploading all these walls and stating they are " Modified " and leaving a link to original artist - but I see no agreement from them if they care or don't care that the walls are being modified.
Most of the comments are not in english.

That is something that Deviant art can handle according to their rules. I appreciate your looking into this....Something we shouldn't have to waste our time on....but not something worth allowing either
