Problem downloading blinds/skins

Problem downloading blinds/skins

I go to download a blind/skin and it downloads to "Temporary Folder". I went looking through my computer in the Temp folders and wasn't able to find any of the blinds/skins that I downloaded. I tried this several times with different skins just to check if it was just that one. I also tried to search my computer for the exact file name and included hidden and system folders in the search with no luck finding them at all. It is as if I never even downloaded the skin in the first place. I had the trial version before and it would download to "Temporary Folder" and then the program would say that "You have a new skin, would you like to install it?" or something along those lines, so I would click yes and it would install it automatically. Now with the full version it does not do that for me. I am using WindowBlinds 4 (4.5 (Build 185)). I tried to right click on the download button to "Save target as" so that I could specify the location to where it would download and it doesn't allow me to do that. I have also updated to IE7 since I last downloaded a skin and was woundering if that might be the issue.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Roy

You indicated that the amount changes according to whether you have Windowblinds running or not. This may have affected your true download limit. Is that a trial version you are using?

Where did you get this version from?

Well I have the full version, have had it a little while. I did have some skins when I first got the trial and have used them, but lately I have been browsing and found some new ones I was going to try, but been having the problems. I had gotten my version from here, I looked to see when I got it, but must have deleted the email shortly after I got it.

Could the problem be that I did not click unload before I uninstalled the trial? All I did was uninstall the trial and then installed the full version.

The easiest way to tell that would be to post the system information here

I don't think the system info and rebuild list options were available in 4.5

Well I know my system info.

Operating system - XP Home sp2
Processor - AMD Athlon 64 3400+ 2.4Ghz
Ram - 2 GB
Hard Drive - 160GB
Video - 256Mb ATI Radeon

Don't think any other info will help here.

I do have plenty of space left on the HD, not even half full yet.

Explorer menu > Tools > Folder options > File Types tab.

Delete the .wba extension and any others you are having problems with from the list.

Then.. go to a .wba file.. right click > Open(with) > Browse to windowblinds.exe.

Make sure to check the Always open with the selected program to open this kind of file.

If its's the problem im thinking of this will fix it.

In newer version of WB - there is a 'system info' that will show stuff like:

WindowBlinds 5.0 System Information Report:

STATUS : WB+ SRV+ HLP+ UI+ TRAY+

WindowBlinds is installed correctly on this PC.

WindowBlinds appears to be activated on this PC

Your machine supports per pixel borders on WindowBlinds skins.

You have one monitor in total.

(Plug & Play-monitor) 1 is attached to Troll Aspirion Alpha1
Wblind.dll 2005/11/28 13:57:10
Wbsrv.dll 2005/11/28 15:52:00
Wbconfig.exe 2005/11/28 16:19:00
Wbload.exe 2005/11/25 19:30:58
Wbhelp.dll 2004/09/18 15:37:00
Wbui.dll 2005/11/20 12:23:40
Tray.dll 2005/11/02 13:28:26

Then we can help with stuff like borked files.

Ok, I updated to WB5 and it is all fixed just like when I had the trial a long time ago. I still have a problem that I had even with the beta. When I use Yahoo Messenger, whenever I right click anywhere in messenger it closes the Yahoo out. If I unload WB, I can right click, but not when I have WB loaded.

That's a known problem with Yahoo, I think it's supposed to be excluded by default within the program, but if not just set any yahoo exe's to be excluded from being skinned.

I think it's supposed to be excluded by default within the program,

Neil mentioned before it WB is/was supposed to exclude by default, however yahoo keeps changing their stuff which negates the auto exclusion.

you want to exclude all yahoo .exes you find
