Gameplay Improvement Idea - Weapon behavior

individual weapon behavior

Hi Devs, yesterday I had an Idea, what if you could give weapons individual behavior? like Flakcannons which are effective towards little ships(less HP) but nope against bigships(much HP)

you could implement that in the xml files, so you have the option to put simple formula into this
so you have many possibilties to make interesting behaviors.

another Idea would be, Weapon damage results on the size of the own ship
little ships get "small" disruptors and BiG ships get "Big" disruptors with much firing power.

the same you could do with costs, much cost for big ships etc...

would this be possible? I would wish this option in DA =o)

Yes, I like this idea a lot. Maybe have a chance for missing with the bonus of a slightly higher atk at the time or smaller size. Another possiblily is having mass drivers jamming meaning that your attack was wasted and missiles have a chance of backfiring (or something) so that you take some damage (the damage you take increases as the weapon gets more powerful, though the chance of backfiring decreases since they are getting more advanced)

At this point the devs are just working on getting out the last crashes, game-killing bugs, and typos. So any more major changes will have to wait until the next expansion or GC3.

I suspect "major" is a pretty fuzzy term here, at least if DA gets even half the post-release attention that DL had. Assuming that most devs working DA now will need to work on NotMoM2, I'm a bit torn in what to wish for...

I don't like the idea. It would add too many complications that would then confuse new players and need a whole new set of AI code, then it would need rebalancing.

Basically, they could make better use of the time to improve the other areas of the game.
