ObjectDock Freezes after Closing Applications

Does anyone have a clue as to why ObjectDock is freezing up now? It never did this until I installed version 1.5. Then after it started doing that I uninstalled version 1.5 and went back to 1.3 And now its even doing it in 1.3

At the moment its if I open CursorXP or empty the recyclebin it freezes up for about a minute.

Have you cleared the cache? WWW Link

Also how did you uninstall and reinstall?

These things make a difference in performance.

By the way I LOVE YOUR DOCKS!

Hoping it helps a little, Giz...

I have both 1.3 and 1.5 ...on seperate comps, and I'm not getting probs with either of the builds.

I added a recycle bin to the docks as a test, and i also use CursorXP [free] ..I could'nt reproduce what is happening to you ~on either build.

When I first installed i.5, it was very slow when I opened the dialogs. But I found it was a conflict with UltraMon. As soon as I would unload UM, the problem was gone. (I was only using UM to set seperate wallpapers on each monitor, so no major loss) Maybe you have a software conflict also.

I noticed on another post where someone is having lockups when they set the z order to bottom. I've been using OD+ 1.5 on and off since it was released and haven't had any problems.

Hmmm....I guess it could be just about anything. When I installed 1.5 I first uninstalled 1.3 cleared out the folder and rebooted. Then once I installed 1.5 it was like someone dumped molasses in the works and it all came to a screeching halt. Since I never had this problem with 1.3 I uninstalled 1.5 cleared everything and rebooted and reinstalled 1.3 and the problem seems to have migrated over to 1.3 now. Don't think I did the cache clearing but I'll give that a shot and see what happens. Thanks everyone for the input!

And thanks Chasbo! Fans are a good thing!

OK...here's the 50 million dollar question. I originally installed ObjectDock as a stand alone...as in not through SDC. And someone mentioned that it should still be recognized through SDC as being installed but it doesn't. Would this make any difference in regards to upgrading to 1.5? And...if I installed 1.5 through SDC would it somehow archive version 1.3 even though it doesn't seem to know its installed?...Just in case something gets all borked up again then I can just start installing it through SDC.

No..... Programs installed outside of SDC are not recognized by SDC.

My configuration:
Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit
WindowBlinds 5.50 build 102
ObjectDock 1.90 Plus

-----

Just wanted to add a quick note to this thread, just in case in might help someone. I was having this exact same problem. Whenever I closed an application, all of my docks (I have three, one of which is tabbed) would complete freeze up for at least 20 seconds and sometimes as long as a minute or 2.

Even though the docks were completely frozen and inaccessible, I could still use other programs. Since I have the windows taskbar hidden, I'd have to use SHIFT+TAB or WIN+TAB to switch between windows or to access minimize windows. Likewise, if I wanted to start an application that wasn't already running, I'd use the Windows key to access the Start menu. Very frustrating. I even tried a couple other dock applications, but couldn't find one with more than a fraction of the functionality of ObjectDock.

I tried everything I could think of, nothing seemed to work, and then, today, I simply ran the ObjectDock installer again. I didn't uninstall first; I just installed right over the top of my existing installation. And, (knock on wood) my problem seems to somehow have fixed itself. I've opened and closed programs like mad trying to recreate the problem, and I can't seem to do so. And it was omnipresent before, so this seems promising.
