I Need A Hobby

I Need A Hobby

I need a good hobby to keep myself occupied. I've been thinking about it for a little while.

It has to be something that I can do while on the road, so it has to be as portable as possible, not require any special tables or other set up, and be safe to do in an enclosed space like a truck.

I used to really enjoy doing wood burning, but that's not practical in the truck.

Painting is out of the question for the same reasons as well as a complete lack of talent.

I was talking to a friend of mine and he suggested knitting. He's been doing it himself for a while and says he finds it very relaxing. I don't know a damn thing about knitting, but maybe that's a good thing. I have always enjoyed learning knew things.

I may just have to see if I can locate a decent instructional book and/or DVD or something. I can't imagine knitting would be a very expensive hobby, it would be very portable (I think), and safe to do indoors. Besides, if I can learn how maybe I could knit myself a nice sweater or something.

I'm going to look into it when I make it back home.

Hey check this out. It's a guy who carves crayons. I thought it was kind of cool. http://www.petegoldlust.com/carvedcrayons.html

Oh how about becoming a grafitti artist. You could leave your tags all over the country. All you need is spray paint. http://wallspankers.com/wsgraffiti.htm

I have a quilt that I need to finish. It's not for me. Takes too long. I need instant gratification. I do love picking fabrics and colors out though. I just transferred that to paper.

Some good suggestions here, not counting the graffiti artist. I appreciate them all, thanks.

I've always thought canoe and/or boat building would be interesting. No way it would work in the truck though...

I've always wanted to build a 50 ft sailing boat. Something to cruise the Caribbean with. Be a bit tricky in the truck.
