I want to do the campaign stuff, but...

I have attitude problems re the small maps

I must first say that I might not make another try at the campaign stuff until well after the DA expansion ships, but nonetheless I'm quite interested in any advice and/or remarks the short-game crowd might have for us long-game types who want to grok the campaign but have so far been put off by the apparent need to be an aggressor.

Hardcore strategy buffs: Is there a non- or less-aggressive path though the campaign scenarios?

Or, if the game demands butt-kicking instead of cuddling or kissing, can someone point me to some "cheat" guidance so I could play the campaign to really learn the GCII back story?

If you play the Dreadlords campaign on 'normal' level, the Dreadlords typically will not escort their transports. All you need to do is built super fast ships with good sensors and miniscule weapons with the 'cargo hull'. I named mine 'hunters'.

Use them to scoot arount the dreadlord ships and kill all their transports. Dont bother building starbases or planitary defences. Focus on technology untill you have the doom ray then have LOT'S of fun exterminating Dreadlord ships and their pathetic tiny little shield defences which once apon a time seemed invunerable.
