My hair grew!  See:

I wish!  The long ponytail isn't mine, it's a phony pony that I bought from the beauty supply store.  I have enough of my own hair to tie back into a wee little single ponytail, but it just wasn't quite the look I wanted to go to last night's squadron Christmas party with.  So, I got the phony pony, clipped it right about my wee little ponytail, and off we went!  Nobody could tell that it wasn't my own hair; a few people even said how natural and pretty it looked.

Dave doesn't quite know how to react to it.  He's never seen me with hair that long and it took him by surprise, I think.  I promised my mum I'd send her one of these photos - I told her that I was going to wear it and she said I hadn't had hair long enough for a single ponytail since I was about six or seven - and that my dad loved it when I decided to grow my hair out because it reminded him of when I was a little girl.  So, there will probably be a few tears when she sees the photos.  Had dad been alive to see them , he'd probably shed a couple of tears too.

I'm loving me some fake hair, y'all!

Apparently nobody could tell it was fake, which surprised me.  I do intend to have fun with it; I think that it's going to become a regular thing - kind of like wearing a hat.

Oh wow!  I'm blushing - thank you!  I was wearing some foundation, I think that had a lot to do with it, but I WAS feeling pretty confident that night, and I think that shows.

I am growing it out.  It's gone from a pixie cut to a chin length layered...well, mess. That's ok though, it's still growing.  I think I'm going to get it to shoulder length and then leave it there.

Where do I get one in red?

Try a Sally Beauty Supply store.  I know that you can't use a permanent dye on them, but you might be able to use a semi-permanent one to get it red like your hair - if you can't get one in red, that is.

I almost didn't recognise you! You do look gorgeous! They are great aren't they?!

They are TONS of fun!  I'm thinking about getting a longer one - the one I have is about 7" long, but they have one that's almost a foot long and would hang down to the middle of my back! 

I almost didn't recognize myself when I looked in the mirror at the final result, and a couple of people at the party did a double-take when they saw Dave and I together.  My in-laws are coming for a visit this weekend, and I'm going to wear it then - it's going to be interesting to see what they have to say about it!

I used to think that short hair was easier to deal with than longer hair - I was SOOOOO wrong!  Short hair needs to be styled every day if you want it to look nice - longer hair doesn't need that, and it can actually look better the second day than the day you wash it.  If I'm having a bad hair day, all I have to do is tie it up (that's where the phoney pony will come in handy) and voila!  Problem solved! 

Seeing these photos of me with long hair is jusy awesome.  I'm going to print one out and keep it in my purse so I'll always have inspiration with me.
