Beard Growth Journal

Ok, this really won't be of much interest to anyone but myself. I'm going to keep a sort of record on my beard growth to track how quickly (or slowly) it grows in this time. Sometimes that helps when it reaches the point where it doesn't seem like it's growing in any more.

Ok, so this is after a week of growth.

The first couple of weeks are when it always looks the worst.

It's just genetics. Considering I am 1/4 Apache I really shouldn't be able to grow much of a beard, but I guess the Irish is dominant in me. My younger brother couldn't grow a beard to save his life.

I am curious.  Was it dietary that most native americans could not grow a beard?  I have always been curious about that.  But as that is greek to me (genetics and all), I have never heard why.

No, just genetic makeup. The native Americans were originally descended from Asians, who are not known for heavy beard growth. It's not true that no Native Americans had beard growth, as some did. It just wasn't nearly as heavy as European's and those who did have any growth would usually shave it off as it was considered an undesirable aberration.

Mason - you are runining a perfectly good honest open face with that beard! (in my opinion!) ::

Beats having it freeze.

Okay, when I snap my fingers you'll go about your way not remembering any of this. On every payday you will endorse your paycheck over to me and send it to me...

OKAY, SNAP!

Thanks for that. I guess the Europeans needed it for the very reason you are growing it, and the asians (at least the southern asians ones) did not. I always wondered about that.

Yeah, folks from cold climates needed the extra protection.

Well, maybe you just have low testosterone levels. If so, at least ya won't go bald by the time you're 50.

*psh*...Don't think that's the case...maybe the beard'll kick in soon...if not then shaving won't be such a pain, I guess. I can live without a beard...my sideburns grow in fairly well, though.

Yeah, just kidding around. It does come with age (although I had a full beard by the age of 14).

Ok, here's the photo record at two weeks. Still looks rough but is a tad fuller.
