My Speakers Have No Sound!

I have never had an issue with this before. I have no sound what-so-ever coming from my speakers. The only possible explanations that I can come up with are these:

1) I recently downloaded/installed a Brico-Pac thing from CrystalXP.net and after trying it out for awhile I uninstalled it, reverting the modified files back to normal. Not sure if that may have damaged the files or not...the sound was working since then...

2) I installed DesktopX and loaded up a theme. It worked for awhile until a box popped up saying DesktopX had encountered a problem and needed to close. This happens very frequently. After this is when I noticed that my sound does not work anymore at all.

Can anyone help me out here or point me in the right direction to possibly get my sound working again? It would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Not sure , but It could be more simple...If you have an integrated micro on your PC, check if the volume button of the micro is not on maxi. If it is, then turn it down.
A friend of mine had this loosing sound problem and solved it like that.

You might also clear the DesktopX cache by deleting the 'DesktopX' folder from the following location:

"C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Local Settings\Application Data\Stardock" - where 'USERNAME' is the name on your account.

Note - if you can't see the 'Local Settings' folder in your account folder, you need to do the following:

- Open 'My Computer' > Tools menu > Folder Options > View tab > select 'Show Hidden Files and Folders' > click 'Apply'.

Deleting the 'DesktopX' folder from the above location will remove any saved settings for DesktopX, which in turn will force DesktopX to load with the default settings the next time you start it. This should remove any conflict that the DesktopX theme may have caused.

Don't forget to check the hardware:
Are the speakers turned on?
Are they plugged in (power outlet, PC)?
Are they turned down?
