James Kims body found

James Kim was a senior editor for CNET, and was once an on-air personality on TechTV.  His family was recently missing in severe weather in Oregon.  His family was rescued a few days ago, and James had taken off several days ago to find help for his family.

Unfortunately they found James body today.

The 'Pacific Northwest' (my neck of the woods - being in Seattle, WA) can be very dangerous. It is always sad when we hear these stories, which happen all too often.

We were taught early on (here in the Northwest) to always pack some extra items in case of emergency - the operative word here being "were". I suspect that with the advancements in technology - cell phones, computers, GPS devices, internet, etc. - people sometimes forget that the world is big compared to a human, and that mother nature does not typically accommodate the technology of mankind.

I feel sad for the surviving family members, and hope that others will pack boots, sweaters, hats, gloves, whistles, compasses, rain shells, and water when traveling away from home.

This is so sad. I've been following this since I heard about it on a podcast last week. Once they found his wife and daughters alive, I really thought they would find him alive as well.

It is such a tragic thing when these unfortunate events occur. I too had been following this story over at CNET, and felt sure that he'd be found alive & well.

My heart goes out to his wife & kids, and those close to him.

Too, too sad! It would have been a tragedy at any time of the year, but so much worse for his family just as Christmas and the holiday season is about to begin. My thoughts go out to his family and friends for their loss.
