The first muslim senator in the history of the united states, Keith Ellison asked not to be sworn on the bible, but on the quran.

However, some conservative critics lashed at him because, they say, it "undermines the american culture".

lol, that's cute. You fell for it too. Our Congressmen aren't sworn on any kind of book. Later if they opt to they can use one in a photo op for the press, but the real ceremony just has them raise their hands.

Sorry you don't have anything to be outraged about.

So it is reported. Like I said. a lot of people are just itching to be outraged for some reason. So much so that they jump at the chance without bothering to see if it is even relevant. You'd be surprised how many times I've seen people make long speeches about stuff that's been copied from "The Onion", lol, never noticing what the source is.
