Well There's A News Story You Don't Hear Every Day

I just heard this story on the local news channel. one of our Sheriff's Deputies was out in the woods in a dense and remote area and was bitten by a diamondback rattler. He was carried out by firemen after they finally got to him after the call came in over a cell phone. Luckily there was a judge with him who was able to lead the firemen to the bitten man's location.

The deputy is in intensive care but is expected to survive.

Nothing exciting but still just not the sort of story one hears every day.

This story begs for more details about just what the deputy was doing out in the dense woods and just where he got bit at (as in where on his person).

Would also have to ask why a Judge would have been with the deputy.  Almost sounds like Dukes of Hazzard type stuff.  (Or perhaps Dick Cheney on the huntin' trip type stuff).

Well, it is Hillborough County, FL. Hazard has nothing on this place

I kind of wondered why a deputy was out in the woods with a judge, but knowing what I do about the justice system here it really didn't surprise me any.

Speaking of news you don’t hear every day, A polk county Fl, swat team shot a cop killer they found hiding in the woods 68 times:>

The FBI is going to investigate whether or not they used excessive force.

The sheriff doesn’t think so he told the news paper “That’s all the bullets we had, or we would have shot him more”

Yeah, that was big news here for a day or two. The scumbag shot and killed one officer, killed a police dog, and wounded another officer, all during a routine traffic stop. He hid in the woods over night and they combed the area for him. He was surrounded by 100 or more cops and opened fire on them. All of this happened less than 20 miles from my home.

I think the "civil rights" group that requested the investigation as to whether this asshole's civil rights were violated should be shot too.

If you are stupid enough to open fire on a bunch of cops what are they supposed to do, play patty cake with you?

BTW, the news story is wrong. He wasn't gunned down by a SWAT team. He was gunned down by the hundred or so State Police, Sheriff's Deputies, and officers from other jurisdictions that had volunteered to help hunt down this mad dog killer. There were no SWAT officers anywhere near there when this happened. Gotta love the press.

Exactly. This is one of those rare occasions when a cell phone was more than a tools to annoy other people.
