Basically, just copy the DarkAvatar/Gfx/Models directory to Mods/ModName/Gfx/Models, and copy the entries for the jewelry pieces from DA's GC2Types.xml to an xml in Mods/ModName/Data/ShipComponents. What textures have been replaced from the base game should 'just work', though some may need to be renamed back to their original names if they've been changed for the new hull style system.

Thanks! How would I assign these new ship types to the other races?

Just looked over the files, and it appears all the new models and textures stil within the old five categories, so you shouldn't need to change anything (the new hull style system in DA is not limited by the Sn_ prefixes on the model files anymore).

FYI, you won't be able to add the new hull styles since that is a feature of DA--GC2 is still limited to the core five. But if you copy all the files and add the structure and hull entries from DA's GC2Types.xml to a mod .xml, they should all appear under the old styles.

You say I cant add the hull styles but then say i can make them appear under the old styles...im a little confused here.

Do you mean I cannot give them to the other races but that I can use them on my own?

I think he's saying you can over write the core styles with some of the new ones from DA, but you cant add a sixth style within the original game. You will lose one of the original styles in order to add a DA only style.

ah gotcha oh well that negates me being able to have all differnt hull types for each race until dark avatar i guess...

Basically, yes. DA has twelve styles but all of the models are internally still named according to the original five groups; each style uses the hulls from one group, and the jewelry from another. It looks like there are more than that just because each group has a mixture of new and old parts, and the core ships/AI designs for each race stick to one or the other within their style.

So while you can't make new styles in standard GC2, you can copy the models all back there and with the proper modifications to GC2Types.xml, you can use all the new stuff alongside the old stuff, within the base five styles.

No. Like I said though, just copy all the models and textures over and add the appropriate XML entries from DA's GC2Types.
