Skinning Chritmas, Day 3, Part 1

Ok, As I was saying yesterday I am a bit behind schedule. I was hoping to have the Windowblinds skin wrapped up tonight, and I almost got there. But not quite. I still need a XP start button, as well to tweak some of the system colors. But I should have no problem finishing it up tomorrow.

Here is another teaser of the skin. I will have a full Screenshot for you tomorrow night.

My Plan for tomorrow is to finish up the Windowblinds Skin, do the Icons, and wallpaper. I think that the DesktopX stuff is going to put me back one day. But I don't see it taking to long. As most of you skinners know, the Windowblinds skin is the hardest part. Especially now when you have to do the Windows Animations, and toolbars. But I am happy with it so far.

Time spent on this skin so far. 26 hours. Hoping to have it done in 2 more. Well. More to come so check back in tomorrow.

if i may add a suggestion. Its looking really great, i love the snow, but the candy canes all over may be a bit more numerous than necessary :)

Wow, that looks awesome! I ve been hoping that someone will finally make a hollyday skin, and most importantly to get it right. And this seems more than promising to me. I intend to make a DirectX Based Christmas desktop with a nice particle engine and santa-moody theme will be out in about 3 weeks or so, when i find some time to spent.
The internet community simply rulez. That christmas 's gonna be something special.

I was expecting to get alot of guff for the Candycains, I think I might Alter the tab pain. the border is just to much. But other then that I think the rest are going to stay. :)

I agree, the cains are a bit much for the inside border, but i love them on the Start Bar.

OK, I lost the Canycain border on the Tab Menu's, and it helps alot. Thanks for the feedback, they were bugging me, but you never know what people will like. And is was a pain in the but to make the Tab borders tile correctly, so I wanted to try and make it work, maby in the next skin. The skin is still going to be cany cain hevy but, hey its a Christmas skin. Ho Ho Ho.

We wish you a Merry Christmas...we wish you a Merry Chriatmas..ok enough..Looks good so far. So can we expect to see a scripted object (such as Santa and reindeer) gliding across the screen? maybe with a sound file attached wishing everyone a Merry Christmas? ho-ho-ho?

Looks really great but im not sure bout the candycane borders they look a bit out of place an as the majority of da skin is blue (which looks Gr8) the brite red an white stands out 2 much
But gr8 work can't wait till its all finshed

Hey Mormegil,

I was wondering if you would put some nice green in it too. I noticed that it pretty much was made up of red, white and blue. Green always looks pleaseing.

Super! Working in red is very hard because it wants to dominate. You have kept the cany cane very fine and it is recognizable without dominating. The shadow of holly makes for a very sublte touch. I am loving this! I don't like bold blaring and obvious. Your sublety gives this a refined and polished look.

I forgot to add I like the candy cane border in system properties. It relieves that boring grey and accentuates what is active.
