If You Liked The Mark Foley Scandal, You're Gonna Love This!
another right wing hypocrite..
The Rev. Ted Haggard was a false prophet. That is, according to the doctrine that all christians believe. Paul warned of false prophets in 2 Corinthians 11:13, “For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.” And the Reverand Ted Haggard was certainly doing that. The church should celebrate the "outing" of a wolf in sheep's clothing. I am not an evangelical christian, but I do have respect for anyone who has a deep faith in anything. that might not always be so apparant when debating, but deep down, ya gotta admire anyone who sincerely devotes their life to good.
The recent Amish tragedy was a great example of that. It happened about an hour north of where I live, and thru my travels I have had the pleasure of meeting a lot of great Amish people. But that tragic day helped me realize just how devout they were. And I , like many were blown away by the gestures of forgiveness and kindness. Indeed, it was a lesson for us all in real christianity. I'm not ready to dress in goofy clothes, stop shavin and start churnin butter, but I can't say they didn't make me want to be a better person, like them.
I hope the evangelicals will make us all equally as proud. They have outed a false prophet. that prophet has preached a deceitful and hateful doctrine. They have used politics and religion to promote a false doctrine. Now maybe they can see that George Bush is not the prophet they think he is. The Book by David Kuo, "Tempting Faith" was a peek inside how the right wing of the republican party has used people's beliefs and faith to promote their reckless, neoconservative agenda.
I am not saying evangelical christians shouldn't vote on Tuesday. That decision is up to them. But maybe they will rethink putting that guy back in office who has been preaching about how much he supports people like george Bush and the Rev. Ted Haggard's agenda. Along with all the preachers and politicians down the line who got their marching orders, directly or indirectly, from those leaders and their ilk. Maybe this will help people realize that God and politics don't mix.
In case you have lived under a rock for the last few days, the story is that the now former head of the National Association of Evangelicals was outed for having a 3 year pay as you go sexual relationship with a male prostitute. The Rev. Ted Haggard also was buying crystal methamphetimine to "enhance " the experience of gay sex.
At first. the false prophet lied about even knowing Mike Jones, the gay prostitute who came forward about the encounters. Only 1 day later, he reversed his story. Admitting to knowing his paid gay lover and buying meth. He claimed that he only met him once, which appears to be another lie. And he claims he only got a massage. He claims a hotel worker reffered him to Mr Jones. Unfortunately, Mr Jones only advertises in gay publications and websites and doesn't advertise as a masseuse.
And Bill Clinton didn't inhale, right?
