Can I have the "old" WindowBlinds 5.02 back

Hi,

I've just spent the last 1/2 day stuffing around with WB5.1. My system either wont' accept the install, or if it does, I need to reboot to get the skins appearing correctly. When I do get a skin to work properley, my system will randomly reboot.

Here is my system information:

WindowBlinds 5.1 System Information Report:

STATUS : WB+ SRV~ HLP+ UI+ TRAY+

WindowBlinds is installed correctly on this PC.

WindowBlinds appears to be activated on this PC

Your machine supports per pixel borders on WindowBlinds skins.

You have 2 monitors.

(Plug and Play Monitor) 1 is attached to NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GT
(Plug and Play Monitor) 2 is attached to NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GT

I tested my reboot theory and uninstalled WB5.1 and hey presto no more reboots. I never once experienced any issues with WB 5.02. In exasperation I reloaded my XP64Bit Windows on a clean formatted partition. Then after installing all the latest downloaded drivers available etc and no other software at this stage, I installed Stardock Central and re downloaded WB5.1 Rebooted and no skins will take again. WB either hangs with (not responding) messages or a skin will half install ie colours of the window surrounds but not "skinned" if you understand my meaning. And not all skins will get this far.

Can you please send me a link to the3 "old WB5.02" at least that worked

Or any suggestions

Greg

That file for some reason seems outdated. You 'may' need to completely remove the WindowBlinds program. This program will remove Object Desktop components and comes with the following warning.

Warning: this will delete any installed skins/themes for the component when used to uninstall that component.

So, back up your blinds before using it.

Perhaps a re-install of WindowBlinds after this will resolve your issue.

Hi Hankers,

Thanks for your quick reply, but unless Stardock have "old" versions on their server I can't see how I can have an old dll. This is a brand new fresh install of Windows Xp 64Bit and WB only 3 hours old. I'll try the uninstall and reinstall routine again, but this sucks. Stardock should at least give everyone an option to go back one version "just in case"
