Alignments - Good vs. Evil

Need Expert Advice

I was looking at the high scores for characters on the Metaverse. I noticed that the more evil characters have higher scores.

The_Storyteller has the highest scrore for the 'VERY EVIL' alignment. His score is 1,360,275.

Allianz von K has the highest score for the 'VERY GOOD' alignment. His score is 353,735.

Since I am new to this game, does this mean I should always make 'VERY EVIL' decisions while playing this game? (i.e. when colonizing a planet it will ask me an ethical question.)

My question is, should I always select the most ruthless and evil option, and what exactly are the consequences for selecting the evil option, the neutral option, and the good option?

It's a matter of style. Evil is probably the strongest choice, Neutral is pretty good if you can capitalize on Neutral Learning centers and free tiles, while good is just ok.

The main reasons for this, would be that the evil choices are pretty sweet, and the evil bonuses are strong as well. (mind control center, and evil weapons)

For Neutral, getting the NLC quickly and the terraforming bonus can be quite powerfull.

For good, all you really get are defensive bonuses, and maybe the empathy center. (along with the horrible choices) Don't get me wrong, I like defense, but for me it's not worth chosing good to for.

I think the only issue with all this, is that chosing evil shouldn't be so easy... In GC1 picking evil often caused almost everyone else to attack you, or to lose most of your trade income. (which was much higher in GC1)

Also the random events against evil are pretty weak in GC2. A few planets going to the fundamentalists are pretty easy to deal with.

So really it's about style, which may be the way it should be... However I'd rather the balance of good/evil to be more random so that always picking evil wasn't such a easy choice... (and making trade stronger would help too)
