3Ds Max Shadows

I'm using 3Ds Max 8 now from school, and I know nothing about shadows, nor do my teacher. So if anyone knows how to add shadows when rendering, that would be great if you tell me . Thanks in advanced!

well, first of all, i do some changes on the rendering of the image: by pressing F10, i go into "Common" menu and then change the "Assign Render" setup ~ on "Production" i change the defoult seting to "mental Ray".

then the rest is just some changes on the materials, like usign a simple material and adding a raytrace on the Diffuse map.., well, i'm not so sure about this last thing becouse i made that 3d shape like three months ago..., i'll try to find the tutorial that i use in this little experiment.
