Those dangerous, Radical Christians are at it again

The Amish forgive

I understand that the families of the murdered Amish girls are making provisions for a fund to be set up for the family of their daughters' murderer. They've forgiven him, I understand, and wish to help his family to get past this, and to assist in their care and wellbeing, since the husband/father is now dead.
You know, you really can't get all that much more radical, as far as Christianity goes, than the Amish.

Someone really should point this out to Rosie O'Donnell. I mean, they've not only forgiven the man who so horribly wronged them, but want to help his family, as well. How dangerous can you get?

This sounds quite typical of the Amish. They're very good people.

They do seem to understand the meaning of the Word, anyway.

To use one of Mason's favourite word, Rosie O'Donnell is an 'asshat'!

No, no... no. You've missed the point. "Dangerous" to Rosie O'Donell isn't about safety or malice or harm. "Dangerous" is what people are when they wouldn't allow gay marriage. So, Rosie O being a one-dimensional little turd, most Christians ARE dangerous.

She should add people who believe that celebrities shouldn't be allowed to adopt kids as if they were stuffed animals. Rosie says "I need me a new one... this'un'z gettin too big to cuddle..."

I am very dangerous. You should stay away from me. I'm against gay marriage. I am against abortion. I believe in prayer. I believe in forgiveness. I beieve we need to give more grace to each other. I am very radical.

Well, not as much as I'd like but I'm a "whip" (work in progress)...so with God's help I should be really radical in my old age. Gives me something to look forward to.

I think the Amish people are a very good testimony to God. They give glory to God by their lifestyle. They are putting love in action here. Just the fact that everyone is now questioning what forgiveness means is great. How radical

I can just hear God saying to them..."well done good and faithful servants."

It's funny...I said almost this exact same thing to my wife, when we heard what Rosie had said.
My wife is a Rosie fan, and just couldn't understand why she'd say something like that. You have to remember the source, in other words.

Yeah, Rosie, Brangelina, and now, it seems, Madonna. I guess adopting kids from Third and Fourth World countries is the new Hollywood status symbol, maybe?

Well said, sister, well said.

We lived in Indiana for some time, and had some contact with the Amish. I have my qualms with them, mainly the many "loopholes" they seem to have left in their beliefs, but if this is any indication of the depth of their overall faith in Christ, I can find no reason to shoot them down, none at all.

What did Gene call them.....Rosicrucians? Something like that. Those who worship the blimp on the beach!

I don't think it's fair to call the Amish radical Christians. They're certainly fringe, but their interpretation of the basic tenets is fairly standard, particularly the requirement that you forgive your enemies.

If following the Christian faith's laws is radical in your mind then you can hardly use 'radical' to describe Muslims who don't obey their faith's laws.

2 Times in a day where I agree with someone on the other side of the spectrum on something.

No, the Amish are not radical. But OBL (or UBL) sure is, and the vocal followers. Time to hear from the other side. And I am waiting.

Actually, the Rosicrucians are a religious order similar to the Masons (no relation).

Yes, but people seemed to be taking RW seriously. I felt there was a need to clarify.

Yes, I can see how the Rosie comments would make someone look like they were needing clarification.

Cacto:

It's true that the Amish hold to the same, basic tenets that all other Christians do, yes. But refusing all conveniences of the modern world (though they do have their loopholes in this), and choosing to have as little contact as possible with the outside world (loopholes), all in the name of their faith, IS fairly radical. Don't you think?

Geez.
