I'm trying to follow the news now, but a small plane crashed into a bldg at 72nd street. So far no indication of terrorism. I hope not!

It's an apartment building, 2 and 3 bedroom apts valued at 1million dollars and up. I pray that no one was home when this happened. People were home, so far unfortunately so far one person killed.

I think the dead were on the plane. It is probably just an accident.

They're now saying 4 dead. One was a Yankees pitcher.

The Pilot was supposedly Corey Lidle. He pitched for the yankees.

I can't begin to imagine the fear and horror,  however shortlived,  that the citizens of NY felt!  How scary.

It's enough to put people right back on edge again...

I'm sure.

Thanks for the link Martimus. Apparently Corey was a student pilot. Now the report is there are 16 people injured. Both Corey and his teacher died in the crash. The fire department was able to contain the fire.

We had enough information rather quickly that by the time most of us were aware of the situation, they already knew it was a small plane. It certainly formed the main topic of conversation at my office, though most of us just took it as a tragic event but ultimately not something to get worked up about.

At home that evening, when CNN was running the same stuff over and over about how they knew nothing, my roommate made the comment that it must have been a slow news day. NY1 wasn't even spending as much time on it as the cable networks, and that's our hometown news station.

Yea, as usual the cable news folks dragged it out til we got tired of it too. I'm just glad it wasn't terrorism but was sorry to hear that something like that happened. He was supposed to fly to his family home in California too. So sad.
