Animated Obects

Looking to get in

Hello,

I want to get into creating graphics, namely animated objects. I have no professional drawing/animation programs. Can anyone suggest what programs (both a drawing for .gif's, .png's, etc. then an animation program) are best suited to this task, are most intuitive, and won't put me in a 2nd mortgage?

Also, anyone who knows where I can find some good online tutorials on how to create animated DesktopX objects, I would appreciate the info. Thanks!!!

an animated object can be basically a gif laid out in png format.

you can take a animated gif, extract the frames with Irfanview (free), make them transparent using Giffy (scroll down) then put the frames back into a png strip using Stardock's AniUtil.

or you can draw your own in paint, paint.net, gimp, all free

Here's the DTX Users Guide - look under Developers Guide, Creating Objects, Animating Objects

That's the problem. I don't know how to make an animated .gif. Don't know how to make any animation. I have created all of the frames for a sample object in Pain, saved them each as .png's AND a copy in .gif, but I don't know how to then make combine them all into an animation.

for a animated gif:

You can use MSGifanimator - run animator, drop your gif frames in, play with the settings, save

For DTX you can use the Aniutil (yes, I noticed my link doesn't work) to make a png strip - If you have DesktopX it's in C:\Program Files\Stardock\Object Desktop\DesktopX - you can also download = Link
