Pike Lake, Saskatchewan

I woke up this morning at 4:30 to 27 degrees on the thermometer. After making some coffee, I decided it would be a good time to drive around the countryside and have a look around. Everyone is still asleep here after an early Canadian Thanksgiving celebration yesterday, (For my friends back in the States, it works just like our regular Thanksgiving....lots and lots of food and afterwards, lots and lots of leftovers) so nobody will miss me while I'm gone for a few hours.

Outside, its extremely quiet. Its a bit windy and of course, its cold. Starting up the truck, I pointed it south and headed to the community of Valley Park, Saskatchewan It didn't take long to find some local residents.

There is a nice frost on everything this morning. Once the snow starts falling in a few weeks, there should be some really nice pictures around.

Lots of Canadian geese in the fields this morning, stocking up for their trip south.

I ran out of coffee a lot sooner than I thought, so I turned the truck back west, then north, back to Pike Lake for a refill. Before turning north, I took a picture of the still frozen road.

Happy Thanksgiving from the frozen north....
