campaign. too short? too sweet?

OK, I'm new to this game, (been playing for a couple of months now), and I started the campaign, and finished it in a few hours... Albeit incredibly brief and short lived, I found the campaign very entertaining. However, I was still irked when I saw it end so fast. It just seemed rushed and thrown together on a whim. the same story line could easily accomodate double the amount of missions that is currently does. furthermore, maybe there could be added an element of choice in the missions and the course of the campaign, such as, the ability to choose from a few possible mission objectives. Just expand it a bit! I think the campaign, as in most 3-person strategy games, should fully accomodate the player to all facets of the game play, and CGII is no exception.

I love this game, but we can all agree, there is still room for improvement.

what does everyone think?

The campaign is generally regarded as the weakest aspect of the game, so yes I'd say it could do with some improvement. Personally I'd like it all played out on a single map, with trigger events such as the Drengin releasing the Dread Lords etc. The map could start out as a tiny size, then each time you complete an objective, it opens up to the next map size.

It should be noted however that there is some choice of missions in a way, in that if you loose some of the missions, you can try a different one instead.

I think I'm playing the final mission at the moment and still enjoying it. At what difficulty level do you play the game? What was your strategy to finish the campaign?

I'd say the campaign in general is not something players care about, and effort should be spent more on sandbox-type issues. It may be weak, but I don't think many people care if it's weak.

I played on tough, or normal. you select a difficulty level for each individual mission. not sure if I like that or not..

I'm still having problems fighting the dread lords in the campaign game. So it don't seem that short to me. what is an afective way of fighting the dread lords anyway?

Many cheap, fast ships in the biggest fleets you can amass.

I found them too long, and a bit boring. There's nothing different from sandbox mode except you're restricted in tech, and it's the same map every time. Try accidentally deleting your save a couple of times and replaying the first 4 missions before moving on.
