Question on pricing

I know this is still up in the air, but I'm curious if anyone has any helpful advice. Basically, I'm dying to get GalCiv II. My lifelong interest in turn-based strategy was just rejuvenated by a few turns of the Civ 4 demo and, remembering how much I loved the first GalCiv, this was the first place I came. However, the frontpage announcement that GalCiv II will probably be getting a cheaper re-release in the near future is holding me up. Ten bucks means a lot to me if the repricing is going to be soon, (I've bought a few games only to have the price signicantly dropped days later. I felt pretty stupid on all occasions.) but if it's a month or so away I'll probably just eat the loss. Any consensus as to whether it's worth the trouble to wait?

Have you looked at the totalgaming.net pricing (10 token for 70$, GC2 currently for 5 token, Dark Avatar for 3 token)?

Well, you could always wait to see if the number of token will decrease in the future It depends if you are patient or not

I would like to reinstate this thread with the follow comments.

The expansion for the first GalCiv was priced at US19.90 if I am not wrong. Why is Dark Avatar priced at US29.90? Isn't it too high a price for an expansion?

I would surpose an expansion would be priced lower than then first part of the game in order to install the expansion.

I know it's just too bad for me but I live in Singapore(Asia) and coming out with US29.90 for an expansion is kinda steep, considering the exchange rate. 90% of PC games here in Singapore are priced at S$49.90 and expansions are around S$39.90 (Currently exchange rate is S$1.55 to US$1)

It'll be great if Stardock could distribute GalCiv2 Expansion 2 or GalCiv3 here in Asia.

Well considering that some reviews on gaming site thought it was more a sequel than an expansion .....

And DA is available only for download. The only way to have it at retail is with GC2:DL in the GC2 Gold package.

If you consider the current price on TGN (http://totalgaming.stardock.com/store/) :

GC2 - DL: $19.95 or 2 tokens

DA: $29.95 or 3 tokens

GC2 Gold (DL + DA) : $44.95 or 5 tokens

When initially sold in february 2006 , GC2 price was $44.95 or 5 tokens
