Winning the Game

I have had a hard time winning by
research, or conquest because at some point the game always decides that I won and does not let me finish the tech tree or the mop up of Alien systems.

It is probably becasue you are winning the game through influence... if you knock down the other aliens till they are almost destoryed alot of times you win by influence rather than military. Winning by tech is kind of an interesting thing to do... you have to have your reaserch up higher than anyone else but make sure your military is strong enough to defend against war and such.

I like to win through tech and it takes awhile, and a few wars, to get there... most aleins usually decide to goto peace with me once I switch my spending from research into military and am able to bring out many capital ships very quickly. If you are taking them over too easily perhaps its time to increase the difficulty level ;p

In the Bonus Pak you will be able to turn off victory conditions.
