Suggestions

I was listening to the episode 14 podcast about the new site changes but I had a couple of suggestions of my own. Forgive me if these issues are currently being worked on.

1. No scrolling. Every time I click on a thread in the forum it will not take me to the last response instead it takes me to the first post. I would like the forum to automatically drop me off at the newest post. That would be great.

2. A better system of notifing me that there are new posts on any given thread.

Anyhow thanks guys keep up the good work.

1) I agree. I can never remember which posts I've read and which I haven't. Takes ages to scroll down them all.

2) I can't understand the new notifications, the symbols never represent what I expect. I would like:

Replied to, new post since reply

1) Agreed. I thought this was a bug that was supposed to be fixed? It seems to work in IE (gah) but Firefox it doesn't work.
2) Seems fine to me, although it would be nice to show the actual new post in the notification email.

There is a pinned suggestions thread in the Site Issues forum though.

1. Should be fixed now. Firefox lacks proper JS DOM support, that's all I have to say about that. So much for standards.
2. Fuzzy, how do they not make sense? Theyre damn near identical to the old...
Bebi, are you talking about having the content of the post or reply in the email? If so, I can pass that suggestion along (would help if you replied in the Suggestions post as well) but it's not likely to happen.

ehh.... not really.... nevermind that the new symbols aren't near as classy as the old ones. The page with a check mark for an UNREAD post doesn't make much sense.

OMG it does work now! Amazing, thanks. ^_^

Yes, I mean displaying the most recent post in the notification email along with the link to it. Sometimes it can be cumbersome opening up Firefox and loading the site just to read the new reply when it could be easier to just read it in the email. I'll add it to the suggestions thread too.

Edit: RE to what Koasati was saying, I didn't even think about it but you're right, it doesn't make any sense at all to have unread posts showing the checked off image. o_O Would make more sense for read posts.

Same here....goes hand in hand with old age (craft disease), so it would be real nice if we could go straight to the last post read. Sometimes the larger threads feel like getting through the unabridged version of War & Peace without a bookmark...

Might as well post this here to keep it together, but I noticed some strange behavior with the new fix. When I go to a thread and it takes me to the unread post, when I press the back button, instead of taking me back to where I was last (the list of recent posts) it takes me to the first post of the thread instead. So then I actually have to press the back button twice to get where I was one click ago. Not sure if that's by design, I only notice that here and not at other forums I visit. o_O Really appreciate it working though. ^_^

I couldn't disagree more... The old icons are jagged, gawdy, old-school-gif-style and definately aren't classy.

Yeah, firefox is a piece of work alright. There are several entries in Bugzilla related to this. Give that a search, you'll probably be suprised with just how many 'flaws' Firefox actually has...
