New Virus High Alert....Don't Open ANYTHING Related to Bin-Laden Capture

also one entitled "Invite".... Ms labels them as worst ever

I just got an email from my mother pertaining to these particular nasties and jumped straight on here.....cos I love you guys so much.

Seriously, please be careful......

>>>" Emails with pictures of Osama Bin-Laden hanged are being sent and the moment that you open these emails your computer will crash and you will not be able to fix it!

If you get an email along the lines of "Osama Bin Laden Captured" or "Osama Hanged" don't open the attachment. This e-mail is being distributed through countries around the globe, but mainly in the US and Israel .

Be considerate & send this warning to whomever you know. PLEASE FORWARD THIS WARNING AMONG FRIENDS, FAMILY AND CONTACTS: You should be alert during the next days:

Do not open any message with an attached filed called "Invitation" regardless of who sent it. It is a virus that opens an Olympic Torch which "burns" the whole hard disc C of your computer & bsp; This virus will be received from someone who has your e-mail address in his/her contact list, that is why you should send this e-mail to all your contacts. It is better to receive this message 25 times than to receive the virus and open it. If you receive a mail called "invitation", though sent by a friend,do not open it and shut down your computer immediately.

This is the worst virus announced by CNN, it has been classified by Microsoft as the most destructive virus ever. This virus was discovered by McAfee yesterday, and there is no repair yet for this kind of virus. This virus simply destroys the Zero Sector of the Hard Disc, where the vital information is kept.""

We'd all love to see Bin Laden captured, hung, drawn and quartered, but please people, be patient and wait 'til the pics appear on the 6 0'clock News.

Im not saying this is inaccurate, but from the sound of the email it is very typical of a hoax which is designed to overload mail servers by concerned citizens forwarding it to mass amounts of people.
We shall see..

Picture this:

Millions upon millions of people forwarding that warning message [above] across the net.

Now picture this:

Spammer patting self on back for a job well done. Just the reaction he/she wanted.

Read this

The Osama one is most likely the same thing, just a variation on the theme.

**Edit:
Right on the money, Phoon.

I'm not too sure about the accuracy, either, but just in case this Bin Laden thing is going around, I just thought it community minded to post the alert here on WC, where there are many more VIP's than in my contacts list.

Besides, I was too effin' lazy to send out the half dozen or so emails.

Thing is, I read on Yahoo news and a couple of other places that Bin Laden succumbed to typhoid somewhere in a remote area along the Afghan/Pakistani border and his body had been hung out on display by disgruntled villagers.....maybe reports of his demise are a convenient coincidence for some malware/spam artist with too much wanking time on his hands, but still, prevention is preferrable to cure if such a virus does exist.

Aha! I've just worked it out! This thing started out as an internal memo, from what remains of the hierarchy, to deter low-ranking al-Qaida operatives from actually seeing proof of Bin Laden's untimely bucket kick, that they were in fact leaderless....and somehow it got released into the wild.

It is legitimate but it's a couple years old.

A couple of years old! Then why all of a sudden are there red flags popping up all over the place....maybe somebody dug it out of the crypt, hit 'forward' to all contacts and it proliferated from there?

Apparently, quite a few people around the world are getting this 'resurrected' email. I wonder if someone thought it a great joke after reading recent reports that hasbin Laden (now possibly wasbin Laden) had bitten the typhoid bullet.
