Buttons etc in C# program will not skin

Simple controls (buttons, slidebars) in a C# dialog based application (Visual Studio 2003) using Winforms will not skin at all. Only the dialog frame is skinned. Any SW developer out there who can confirm? I asked the same question in the SkinStudio section but realized that it is a WB problem.
