We missed the poll last week, what with all the news over the GUI Champs going out and taking up everyone's time and attention.  So you all had a little bit longer than normal to vote in this poll.

Last time, I asked everyone thought was the single most exciting feature in the upcoming WinCustomize 2007 site refresh.  The answer was pretty clear, with 241 votes registered, the new streamlined and faster site design came out clearly on top.

Here are the numbers:

Thought I'd try out adding a graphical representation of the data.  Is this something worth doing for future polls?

It'll still be a month or two more until you see much of anything on the new design underway (I'll be trying to get some preview mock-ups at some point to tide you all over) so you all still have a bit to wait on the fabulous new and improved design. 

This week's question is:  Have you tried Windows Vista RC1 yet?  As always, discussion is welcome in the comments section of the article.

Not yet...after researching forums, here and elsewhere, reading comments by beta-testers, I'll wait...just as I will with IE7. XP SP2 and IE6 work ok for the moment. With XP and SDC I have all I want or need.

I like the pie chart! Mmmm.... pie....

I'll be installing RC1 within a week, I'm thinking... probably will dual-boot for awhile.

Any graph would be in addition to the numbers.  I just thought it might help put into perspective the vote totals.

Charts are good. But perhaps tilt it somewhat more towards the reader so you can better see the size difference.

And yes, I'm using Vista RC1. I'm using it as my main OS at the moment ad I find I can do most things. Only real issues I've had is that games are sometimes trubblesome to install. Particualry older ones. (Not that old even.) Waiting for SD Vista goodies.
(And a fix for OD+ that solves the transparent window)

I was pretty interested in Vista early on but my interest is waning. Sure it looks nicer, but it seems like it isn't going to be worth the upgrade. Not that my laptop is likely to really do well with it anyway. I have 1/2 gig of memory and even on XP that is sometimes a problem.
I was far more excited about XP and its potential, Vista is seeming more like a minor upgrade, not a must have.

What I like most about Vista after using it a while now is the little things under the hood that's changed. The things you don't really see, but experience. I like the way the filesystem is now arranged and the way you navigate it. The more I use it the more I hate to boot back into XP. (Which I rarely do now) But mind you, I'd have at least 1GB of RAM for Vista. At least for the pre-release version. Most likely the final as well. That's what I got at the moment. I want to get another GB though because I do alot of graphics work in PS and Studio Max. I have yet to see how Vista handles that when I really push it.

Its a easy way to see the percentage of things that are happening with what you are asking. They do this to us all the time at work with Film roll damage and Digital (vs) film profits. It helps if you understand it..

After using Beta 2, I was pleasantly surprised to start using RC1. Normal average useage suggests that it MAY outshine XP. The big problems have been non-availability of drivers for equipment (obviously the manufacturers are not going to work too hard until the final release), and the unuseability of favourite XP programs - a fair wait and price outlay to replace those programs.

I'm using RC1 now and it was a bit hard to get all my drivers to work. But with a lot of work it has paid off. Now we (the other users on this computer) have completely switched over to Vista RC1. Everyone likes it and the only problems thus far is in the learning how to use all the new functions.

I installed it to a new partition and have now 3 operating systems here.
Good luck to all of the testers and hope others will find that the new system is much safer online!
