What's Up with this?

Yep, its being discussed in a couple of threads. Sometime around last weekend everyone was 2005 years old and the list of their recent skins was a mess. Now some personal pages are unavailable.  Seems like there's a database link error. Oh well.

if you access your my skins page from the forums it will open up....at least mine has?

accessing the "my skins" page works fine from this forums page but that doesn't help user's who like to browse skins by author. Is this a database issue as mentioned above or a problem with the website host service provider? It seems that all of the author's pages which are just subdomains (ex. unclerob.wincustomize.com ) of wincustomize.com seem to be affected.

What I'm surprised (and maybe I'm not looking deep enough), no announcement has been made on the website indicating website problems with author's specific wincustomize.com sites.

I'm sure they'll take care of it, maintaining this site and the bandwidth required to host a site which experiences thousands of downloads daily can't be easy. Especially with the author based infrastructure and maintaining info on downloads to date, etc. and supporting all the other site features, it would seem a full time job for a few people at least to monitor & maintain this site. Plus to fix something on one side may require temporarily shutting down other services that are important and aren't currently experiencing problems - they probably want to fix this when the site isn't experiencing as much traffic.

Tech support has helped me & responded to a few of my personal inquiries on other (unrelated to this issue) matters in the past and they've always been professional, courteous and focused on customer needs, I'm sure they're working on this as we speak.

We just have to be patient, it's a pretty good site IMHO, if it wasn't I'm sure we wouldn't be having this discussion at all.

I think they may have turned the personal sites off, the issue with preview pics not displaying seemed, at least from what I had seen, to be related to personal sites. Either when in own site or browsing public galleries from personal site. This I think is another new bug, new from I think time of new forums, when in personal site and click to go to a gallery, it use to take you back to noraml WC site, it now leaves you in your WC personal site. If you click a skin link in the Just In list you go to that skin in normal WC site.
When in the new forums and click My Skins, we are taken to My skins page, but not into personal site as from old forums. Click My Skins anywhere else at WC and you are taken to My skins page and into personal site.
Maybe some things to be look at and fixed up for WC 2007.

If what Cavan says is true, I would hope that they wouldn't just leave it at that. The function was working, I for one browse other artists work by clicking on their alias and then viewing their skins from the link presented, we can't do that anymore which tends to hinder downloading more than 1 skin from any specific artist. Plus part of the subscription fee we paid for provided that as a function of the subscription, I don't think they can just turn off subscription features without notifying their customer base that the feature would no longer be available.
I'm certain it's just a temporary site problem. Hang in there.
