Nintendo announced last night that the highly anticipated Wii will be released in the U.S. on November 19th at a launch price of $250. The Wii will be released just days after Sony plans to release the PS3. While Sony has said they will have a limited number of PS3's available for the holiday season, Nintendo assures they will have "far more available than their competitor".

The Wii will reportedly include the Wii Sports title, a controller, and the "nunchuck" style attachment. Users will also be able to download and play games from the NES, Super NES, Nintendo 64, and NEC's TurboGrafx. These downloads will cost between $5 and $10.

The unit will also feature high speed internet capability, Wi-Fi, and have over 25 games available at launch time.

Been waiting for this one for a couple of months, now! $250 seems about right. Don't know yet how people will adapt to the controllers... My local outlet says it will be backwards-compatible to use GameCube discs...we'll see. WiFi sounds good.

Not out to make the most realistic graphics (+1/-1)
Geared to simplify gaming (+1)
No HD capability (-1, you cannot tell me that being able to view some of these games in at least 480p isn't great)
Comes with at least a game (+1)
Twilight Princess (+1)

Great Nintendo link, Island Dog! Interesting. For me, Mario in space sounds good for a first. Nine and eleven-yr-olds here...

HD needs to be added...soon!
Graphics remain unknown...will make or break my decision. Good graphics are a must today.

Well the most we know is that they tout wireless networking. Personally this is all fine and dandy but only at the most minimal level possible. I'm glad that we're able to hook this little baby up to the network with the potential of having multiplayer games work over the 'net. However, having played games like Q3A, Counter-Strike, Guild Wars, WoW (during open beta), Battlefield 2, and Tribes, I cannot risk having network problems due to wireless issues. My home network, as it stands now, is wired for all desktop PCs and wireless only for the laptop and potentially the NinDS.

The part that I do not know fully if they're going to provide it is a wired connectivity for networking. This is a must for me but I am willing to deal with just wireless if it means that there'll be no RJ-45 port somewhere on the little slim box.

I take it you don't have one. Because the heating problem has been pretty much fixed. I bought my premium 360 for about $350, which is a great deal.
